Smoked Trout Salad

  • ½ Cup apple cider vinegar
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1½ Tsp. kosher salt
    1 Cup of water
    1 Red onion, thinly sliced

  • INGREDIENTS

    1/2 cup yogurt

    1/4 cup olive oil

    2 tbsp water

    1 and 1/2 tbsp lemon juice

    1 clove garlic, crushed

    tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped

    pinch of salt

  • You can make soft-boiled eggs in our steamer basket. Once the water boils, place room-temperature eggs into the steamer basket and cover. Whisk the first 3 ingredients and 1 cup water in a small bowl until sugar and salt dissolve. Place onion in a jar or bowl; pour vinegar mixture over. Let sit at room temperature for 1 hour.

    Steam for 6 and 1/2 to 7 minutes, depending on how jammy soft you like your eggs.

    Immerse in ice water immediately to stop cooking.

    2 Cups baby arugula
    1 Cup sliced cucumbers
    1 Peach, sliced
    Pickled Red Onions
    Extra Fresh Dill
    3 Soft-Boiled Eggs, Halved
    8 Ounces of Smoked trout, broken into small pieces

  • Discover Yond Cottage nestled on the shores of Lake Superior in northern Minnesota, just a scenic 4-hour drive north of the Twin Cities. Conveniently accessible via Minneapolis and St. Paul airport or the Duluth airport, located just a 2-hour drive from the cottage.

  • While we adore pets, they are not permitted at Yond Cottage to ensure the comfort and cleanliness of all guests.

  • Yond Cottage comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests, with each room featuring a queen bed, and a sofa bed available in the living room for additional sleeping arrangements.

  • Explore endless outdoor adventures on the North Shore, with nearby attractions including Temperance State Park boasting waterfalls, hiking, biking, and birding opportunities. In winter, enjoy cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing trails, or head to Lutsen Mountain just 15 minutes north for downhill skiing. Plan a day trip to charming Grand Marais, located 30 minutes to the north.

  • While front-wheel drive is required in winter, we recommend 4-wheel drive for added traction, especially as the driveway can become icy and steep.
